Johnny's existence is such a blessing... Great wisdom, I could listen to him all day long (maybe I will)
PLEASE TELL ME SONG AT THE START
the republican mp lady was named Countess Markovic
I know it's an old one but it was great. Now I have my reading to do. :)
Is Jen Long the girl who took him off to South America to do the gig?
ie Sound Odyssey Columbia?
Interesting that Amanda felt compassion for the eldest Tsarnaev and the backlash against her opinion. The same thing happened to me. As a mother, I felt compassion for the youngest brother, I looked at the photos and the footage. I listened to the news, and heard commentary. I felt somehow he was being coerced by his culture, by his brother, and held to my opinion amid the backlash of my peers. I held a space open for forgiveness. I also reserved the right to change my mind at any time...and years down the road...I 'did' change my mind... when I saw that the youngest was showing no desire to be a better human. Disappointing. Going against the popular vote...often offers no merit, but I think that it is important...nonetheless!

It's crazy how little the interviewer knows about Ireland. I don't see why anyone in N.I would want to even be in the UK when citizens of their own country know so little about them. Almost like they're a foreign country
i’m a bit late here but jesus that struck me too lmao. how on earth are british people not taught about any part of northern irish history in school?
kev forgot cavan and monaghan but to be fair who can blame him
I hope that by now the interviewer has been fired.
don't appreciate the interruptions... but could listen to johnny chat for hours
When one of your favourite composers talks about your favourite writer and things start to get hurled back at you. ❤️
This was very good!
After speaking with so much honesty and passion i was taken aback when kevin said he was a protestant. I have a new found respect for such a genuine man and what has defined his character. Most Americans of Irish decent have a hard time as all notions of identity are beaten out of us. Since there is no such historical baggage we are instead left arguing about race and belonging. There seems to be little interest anyway in regards to language and culture anyway as though it is an afront to take the mantle of anything but a white colonizer. whats left is a caricature of ourselves, the ernest desire for the happiness of a people banished to the four corners of the earth and the fading hope for a nation once again that is not ours anyway.
Love Kate Nash and Buffy. I think season 2 was the best season though. You can't top Angelus.

His voice is strangely magnetic to me...
this sounds like two sides of me talking to each other
He really opened my eyes. It’s not only what he said, but also how he said it: “We are slowly getting re-hardwired not to engage in our environment.” Would definitely enjoy going on long walks to get inspired by the nature around me and to get to the core of my being, my dreams and urges without being compelled to consume or follow influencers... I would also very much enjoy these walks with Johnny’s songs in my ear. :-) What a kind person, what a talent, what a man... ❤️
How illuminating! I also assumed everyone did this, and then grew up and have learned otherwise. So nice to know I was/am not alone. I prefer to travel solo so that I have this freedom as well-- otherwise, you just have the same experience in a different setting. With this one life, I want to be open. And I want my phone to not rewire my brain. I think Herzog said that, if he wasn't a filmmaker, he would just walk on foot. Similar to the concepts of "child's mind" and mindfulness that John Kabat-Zinn promotes.
As a cancer survivor, the phrase “ the primary destination is experience” resonates deeply.....its the way I lived for a long time
If she would hold back and let him go with his flow it would be a more valuable interview but there are some gems of insight. He's been born into the wrong era IMO.
Agreed - at one point I thought, isn’t she interviewing HIM? Broke up his flow.
NOT 10 thumbs up, 12 thumbs up. More, brava Amanda and podcasts of this calibre.
It's not that the interviewer can't empathize, it's that she refuses. She is treating criminals as less than human, and thus not deserving of empathy. That's the belief we need to change.
That was so enlighten! They talk about so many different topics with different and specially beautiful points of view! O love you Amanda, you make me a better person!
This interviewer lacks the understanding of what empathy is
I think empathy is subjective. We, as human beings cannot feel empathy for every wayward soul, or everyone that crosses our path. It's just not possible. We can, however, Practice...the summoning up of that empathy...if...that is truly what we want to do.
I would love to hear them talk about white supremacist terrorists and mass shooters.
I think the title is basically a summary of her.
Hi, it is wonderful to turn the kaleidoscope, or allow it to turn, and to see new shapes and colours... but there would be no shapes nor colours at all, including "new" shapes and colours, if not for the relatively stable structures, slower-to-change patterns, allowing us to perceive... Order and structure and movement and change are. It's probably healthy to acknowledge that "to-do-lists" and planning as well as openness and "flow" are all potentially very wonderful things... all needed for creativity probably, including musicianship and acting... however many degrees separated... Easy to get caught in "false dichotomies" (did i just create one in categorizing content as a false dichotomy?) Just another perspective to add to the one offered in above video.
Just thoughts. I'm not sure if i'm universally "right", but, I like planning and to-do-lists some days and other days, i like to ride my bike down a random alley and see what new sights arrive... that sort of thing. Anyways, geography and diversifying one's navigation are good things. Agree.
or they have the potential to be healthy enjoyable things anyways...
the part about not keeping one's head down, but to look up and out and sense and feel and engage and look inwards sometimes as well, to not necessarily "get lost", but to find place and/or to be found, find meaning and community with the greater world, moment by moment... i prefer that too. i feel safer some times when i do that... finding places to connect is helpful. Health is a simple issue made complicated by trauma and mistrust. It's some times very difficult to live freely in this world, especially when you do not have a developed skill or talent that allows you to gather money and status; you are disempowered... having to pay to live. Such a state of being requires to-do-lists and planning... to do your resume, apply here and there, buy these or those shoes or clothes for interviews etc Then it's, go here on these days to make your money so that you can eat and have shelter... all the while knowing your life is being wasted and lost and a strange man calls out at you as they drive by in a truck, you walking alone along a road, no sidewalk, or someone approaches you at the bus stop... Being out some times doesn't feel safe... I understand... We all have a responsibility to create safety and community and through that comes greater freedom... It would be nice to have a healthier life allowing for the greater freedom and ease Johnny talks about... i agree with him, and i understand very deeply... But, the greater society, the culture and the cultural premises, are not healthy... and there are too many people poorly nurtured, unhealthy, relatively ignorant and behaving poorly and infecting the world with trauma and mistrust. This world was constructed by a patriarchal system... it arose out of a state of imbalance... Sexism is still a dark force in the world, all over the world... it's awful. Freedom does not come easily to most people. I understand very well and agree... it is painful to live in the world that does not understand. And because they do not understand they can not recognize that it is the culture and its guiding premise that must change...
the interview lacked the actual person, the interalation with the voice and face was missing . visual adds that peak of intensity love was a bit lost
Great , i loved watching . my email ; vergosmgmt@cox.net
She was born in Seoul ... she's Korean-American.
This is amazing, thank you for this!
he laughing............
Is she fucking crazy?? Have compassion for the terrorists?? Don't demonize them?? As if they have no free will? What about the VICTIMS of terrorists and why is it our job to rehabilitate them? These people are psychopaths. You can't teach them empathy and they need to be locked up. Women have been raped by them too. By your logic, lets have no prisons at all. Lets not put filthy sickening peadophiles in prison. Lets be weak and have "compassion". Sorry but we need to PROTECT people. A girl was even dragged out of her tent by Muslim extremists, had her head stompted on by boots while they held her head down and cut off her head. Then spit on it all the while video taping this EVIL because that's what it is and you want us to have compassion for these people?? Sorry but that's verging on delusional. It really is. The Left have gone too far and are over-tolerant to the point its only gonna harm people. You know who I feel compassion for? My fellow humans and sisters who have or are yet to be a target of these sickos. You commit a crime, you pay for it. Period. I am scared of what the world is becoming and allowing in the name of Liberalism. Liberalism was not always like this.
To be in that bubble...:))))))))))
I have been in a complete brain freeze for the past week
That moment when you realize your parents don't literally know anything😂
This is outstanding. Harry seems like a really nice person
Amizing interview, thank you and to Alessia and Olivia and everyone who took a part in making it.
the vaccines r fuckin gr8 but he sounds so posh
I enjoyed this thoroughly! Ritzy, you live in the "boonies"! That's what we call it.
so good!! Miles is the coolest!
Fucking Amazing
Great listen
This was super interesting, great episode! I now have way too many podcasts to listen to 😅
Anyone read the book The Life of Bonnie and Clyde by the ride along of Blance Barrow (Could Amanda play that part of Blanche?)
I've been obsessed with Tove's music for years, this interview is absolutely cathartic. <3
She seems like a deep and varied thinker, mixed with just the right sense of humour. Her music is always next level
This kind of thinking will hopefully become another moment of global enlightenment. Love this Thank you love the intermittent birdsong~
I love AFP x
